HEIDENHAIN TNC 640—Outstanding Motion Control for Perfect Surfaces
Tool, pattern and mold makers are meeting at the Stuttgart fairgrounds this year at the inaugural Moulding Expo. Once again the central topic of the industry is on the agenda: The search for solutions that enable the most accurate and efficient machining possible with high process reliability from the very first piece. To this end HEIDENHAIN will hold live demonstrations with the TNC 640 control at its booth, showcasing its numerous functions for improved efficiency and greater accuracy.
The TNC 640 is the high-end control for simultaneous machining in five axes. It offers excellent motion control, providing short machining times while at the same time producing perfect workpiece surface quality with very high workpiece accuracy. The Dynamic Efficiency and Dynamic Precision package solutions play an important role in this. They include functions such as Active Vibration Damping (AVD) for rapid milling without vibrations and Active Chatter Control (ACC). The TNC 640 also features other functions that are of interest for tool, pattern and mold making. Cycle 32 TOLERANCE permits highly dynamic machine movements during the machining of free-form surfaces with comparatively long machining times and high accuracy requirements. The Advanced Dynamic Prediction (ADP) feature improves the surface quality of milled workpieces, even if the data in the machining program is of poor quality.
The TNC 640 is programmed very easily directly at the control via plain-language programming or DXF import, or by importing data from a CAM system. The finely detailed 3-D simulation graphics of the TNC 640 permit a realistic simulation of machining programs—whether created at the machine or generated externally. The informative machining preview feature permits a pre-evaluation of the program for missing information, problematic machining processes and poor surfaces. Thanks to the 3-D simulation graphics, the machine operator can detect errors in the NC program and chances for optimization before he even begins machining.
